Optimal temperature of ultra-fresh products with online monitoring
FLEET OF FATRANS EQUIPPED WITH REAL-TIME MONITORING FROM T COMM TELEMATICS
Fatrans, specialised in groupage transport of ultra-fresh food products in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, has equipped its fleet with real-time monitoring from T Comm Telematics. With these systems, Fatrans has full insight into the locations of all trailers and control over the temperatures of the temperature-sensitive cargo in them. Via an online portal, Fatrans easily manages all trucks and goods.
Fatrans, part of the Dutch Vegetable Group, transports ultra-fresh goods such as vegetables, fruit, meat and fish to retailers in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Processed and packaged products are transported using modern equipment. Due to the large amount of air in these products, they are very vulnerable. The right temperature in the cargo space is very important for these products. Using wireless sensors, the T Comm Telematics system provides real-time insight into the temperatures in the trailers at the home base. Fatrans produces full reports of the registered temperatures for its HACCP certificate for conditioned transport.
Steering towards the most optimal temperature Marco Stricker, manager at Fatrans: “We transport very temperature-sensitive, processed products, for which the optimum transport temperature lies between 0 and 3°C. With online monitoring from T Comm Telematics, we can immediately see all the temperatures of the products during transport. Now that we are working with this system, we can steer much better towards the most optimal temperature for these products, consider the desired changes and thus optimise the process. The system is an important addition to our operations.”
